| Eleven PC Species Soundsets - File Description |
 |
Description:
Ah yes… sound! Without it, experiences just wouldn’t be the same. That really holds true in the Star Wars Universe since sounds really help make Star Wars what it is thanks to Ben Burtt. Ben Burtt went the extra mile to bring us original sounds for us to enjoy from weapons, and different species you get to run into.
One of the things party members have in the Knights of the Old Republic games is a sound set. Like when you’re in battle, you or your party members will make some comments while in battle or when you switch party members as they let you know they’re ready. I think the most annoying one or the one that sticks out the most is when the Disciple in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords says, “You’ve left me an opening.” That is when you want to mute your speakers, but anyway…
RedRob41 is back again with another mod that adds extra sound sets you can use for either yourself or your party members. These sounds focus on the different species that you come across in the first Knights of the Old Republic game; the list of which ones are in included in the readme file.
A must needed tool you will need to make this mod work is TK102’s KSE. Of course I would imagine most of you here already have it since it is the most popular download in the site’s history. Instructions on how to use the KSE to change the soundsets are in the readme also. This will be very helpful to those with mods or use the KSE to change the appearances of your PC or party members to other species because now you can sound like them. The TSL Patcher is used to install this mod. Enjoy!
Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.

IF YOU ARE EVER IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT INSTALLING ANY MODS, PLEASE REMEMBER
TO ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILES BEFORE INSTALLATION, JUST IN CASE.
WARNING: THIS INSTALLER MAY REPLACE ANY FILES OF THE SAME NAME THAT ARE
ALREADY PRESENT IN YOUR OVERRIDE FOLDER!
================================================================
Description: This mod will allow you to play using an alien speech soundset.
It will complete all missing entries in each of the included ssf files
(so that all NPCs will also have full soundsets), and add a few new ones.
11 included soundsets are: Aqualish (Walrusman), Duros, Gamorrean, Nikto, Rakata,
Rodian, Selkath, Trandoshan, Twi'lek Male & Female, & Frogling (Vandar and/or Yoda).
To play as a Wookiee, use Zaalbar's soundset (since it is already complete).
================================================================
Directions: Please click TSLPatcher (InstallMod).exe to start Installation.
It will then modify dialog.tlk, and the included ssf files, and move all
the new wave files to the streamsounds folder in your SWKotOR directory.
Next, in order to hear the sounds in-game, you will need to use the Kotor Savegame
Editor by tk102. KSE is available at http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php
Once you've opened the Editor (see screenshot jpg):
1 - click on the savegame file that you want to edit
2 - highlight the Soundset line
3 - select the new soundset that you want to use
4 - click the Change soundset button. The Soundset line (2) will update.
5 - click the Commit Changes button. This will save all changes that you have made.
It's usually best to do this with a new game (as soon as possible), but you
can edit saved games at any time. If you restore a previous save, the changes
will not be present.

armelior From: Joined: October 26th, 2007 Posts: 34 | I tried this with the twilek female for mission and the vandar voice for jolee (with the mod thats turns him into yoda) and it looks or rather sounds cool. My PC is a wookie form your other mods, btw. Really nice idea with the other mods you released. |

soundset
YODA!?
what could that possibly sound like??? |
redrob41 From: (Edmonton) Joined: November 1st, 2007 Posts: 66 | I'd like to do a Yoda voice, but I don't know if using the sounds from the movies would be considered porting. Even if I'm allowed to use them, there's way too much background noise and music on them. So, the other option is if there's someone out there that can do some voice recording for it (I can't mimic Yoda's voice). Oh well, at least I've done a soundset for Vandar. |

The porting rule has always been assetts from another game. If that wasn't the case, tons of other Star Wars game mods such in games like Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy would have to be taken down.

Man I wish I had my old Star Wars CD that had movie clips and sounds from the movies. They have quotes and such that have the background eliminated. This includes weapon sounds which I used some of those in some of my sound mods. I showed Devon one time some of the sounds on my harddrive of quotes from the movies that had the regular background noise and then sent him one that came from my disc of the exact quote and it just had the quote.
I know others have used that disc for sources when doing either fan movies that you can find on TheForce.Net or even in some Jedi Knight mods since sounds were more of a thing in modding those games. That disc I think was released in like 1995 is lost somewhere in my home. |

I think I really only have one thing to say to that. There's more where that came from!
