Description:
HK-50 units were first introduced Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. They were being manufactured by G0-T0 and being used to hunt down the Jedi Exile. HK-50 units were based on the design of HK-47, who was built by Darth Revan during the Jedi Civil War.
SpaceAlex is making his KotorFiles debut after making his original FileFront debut with the Operation Flashpoint: Resistance section over three years ago. This mod changes both the HK-50 and the HK-51 units look. I know some of you out there maybe a little confused by the HK-51 mention, but if you didn’t know; HK-51 was going to be introduced at the HK Factory on Telos if that part of the game had not been cut. Archer has made a mod that restores it and it will be a part of the TSL Restoration Project when it’s completed and released. Until then, the changes to HK-51 in this mod won’t show up naturally in game play until you either use Archer’s mod, or wait out the TSLRP.
Anyway, the big change this mod brings is that the author used the HK-51 skin as a base for HK-50 and changed the eye color from blue to green. He also add an alpha channel to the skin and made changes to the appearance.2da file so that they will have a shinier look to them. Personally, I think the new look looks great and all, but I don't think G0-T0 would go through the trouble and give them a great shiny look as it probably would have cost more credits and he may feel that would be a waste of credits. It would seem like G0-T0 just wanted them mass produced to do his bidding, so to me their old look gives them that feel. However, if you really love this fantastic looking new shine added to them, this skin is definitely for you. Maybe you can pretend that G0-T0 was in a generous mod with his money. 
The TSL Patcher will be used to install this mod. However before you use it, please delete the backup folder. The author packed it up in his zip file along with the installlog.rtf file and if you want your last appearance.2da file to be properly backed up, makes sure you delete it before using the TSL Patcher. Enjoy the mod!

DESCRIPTION: Not much to say here. Just a simple HK-50 and HK-51 reskin, which makes the infamous droids look shinier and less worn-out.
Supposedly, most of them just came fresh out of the factory, so it makes sense.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Unzip, run the installer (TSLPatcher.exe), follow the instructions on the screen.
UNINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Delete C_HK50.tga, C_HK50.txi, C_HK51.tga, and C_HK51.txi from KOTOR II Override folder. The TSLPatcher also modifies
two entries in appearance.2da, but it is unnecessary to change those back to default values in order to get the old skins to display properly.
COMMENTS: I've originally released the HK-50 Reskin back in 2005 - however, since it is no longer possible to download the mod from the original link,
and because some people have requested it to be released again, I have decided to re-upload it to KOTOR Files. As a bonus, I threw in an HK-51 reskin,
which is nothing more than a modification of my HK-50 skin. I personally think it makes sense for HK-51's to look similar to HK-50's.
If you do not agree with me, you can always delete the HK-51 skin from your Override folder (be warned that HK-51's will look older than HK-50's if you do this).
BUGS: None that I know.
PERMISSIONS: As long as you give me proper credit, you may do whatever you wish with this mod - no permission from me is required.

Posts: 73 | the amount of shine reminds me of a mod that added hk-48 and 49, they have the same silvery shine as 49 did, just diffrent eyes, intrseting, i like how you improve 50(anything done to 50 is an improvment including if you turned the lame copy into a pink droid) but i persinaly perfer the orginalk hk-51, the black with blue, calm, deadly, really suits the porpuse of the droid beter hten the gray and yellow combo of the 50s, but well done and ingenius |
