NEWBIEMODDERS KORRIBAN EXPANSION - File Description  


Description:
This is a very exciting and much anticipated modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic the name of the particular modification is Newbiemodders Korriban Expansion! This is frankly a superb piece of modding, and it is modifications such as this that make my job of reviewing files a joy. Essentially what this mod does is to add more to Korriban, there are new areas, new tombs, a secret academy and new enemies to fight. The modification is designed so that you will meet some old friends in the game, as well as seeing one of the main villains again.

The technical application required to make this mod has been executed very well, the area reskins of re-used modules is expertly done, and you will be hard pressed to guess which areas have been re-used; such is the skill that Newbiemodder has executed these re-skins that I'm unsure if there are some new areas included or very well re-skinned old ones. The modification also comes with full voice-overs for the new characters that you will meet! The plot is interesting and in keeping with the overall theme of the game, in terms of what the player has to do, there are of course light and dark choices to be made.

There are a few areas which could required updates, the texture of some of the new characters did not quite mach the skill that was used for the areas, and on a clean Override folder, I had one or two errors with Jedi Robes, not having a new model included in the mod. The voice over quality could also be variable, and occasionally there was a lip sync error with the main bad-guy. However that these are all minor fine tuning quibbles shows the overall quality of the modification.

All in all this is a fantastic addition to the KotOR Modding community and I'm sure many of you will enjoy the additional content provided in this wonderful modification, which even comes with files to make it compatible with the must have The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod!

[TSL]NEWBIEMODDER'S KORRIBAN EXPANSION

This mod allows the player to further explore the Sith world of Korriban.


--------------------------------------
Gameplay Tips
--------------------------------------

The player MUST NOT HAVE PREVIOUSLY VISITED KORRIBAN. (See saved game folder in the zip file if you need one.).

The player must continue to explore the ruins of the Sith Academy in search of Jedi Master Vash and confront Darth Sion.

While exploring the academy, player will find clue that allows passage to new areas after leaving the academy. Hint: Uthar Wynn's room. Check map after leaving academy for new waypoint.

To complete full quest, must find Jolee Bindo first.

Always check journal entries after update. There are 2 quests: The Enemy Below, and The Great Escape. They will guide you. Check them even after completion for final notes.

Known Bugs
---------------------------------------

Once Jolee is in party, player cannot return to Ebon Hawk. Did not include any check to remove him and reinstate Kreia to party. Will cause problems in gameplay.

Few missing lip files here and there. Some are not firing. I'm not concerned about it, so you shouldn't be either.

TSLPatcher - click on the Installer file and follow the directions.

Compatability
---------------------------------------

Only real potential problems would be any mod that changes the 701Kor module. This mod includes a 701Kor.mod file which replaces the original ERF file.

Any mod that made changes to Party_Jolee_NPC line of Appearance.2da.

This mod IS compatable with TSLRCM. See Readme in the attached TSLRCM file for instructions.

Looks awsome, only one problem, I've downloaded it, and put the TSLRCM file in the modules folder and went to korriban and got the datapad, and went back to the tomb of naga sadow and i see the bar where u usually go somewhere, and it wont let me in, can you help

If you're seeing the sign, Valley Floor, it should work. There is a texture seam line on the ground. Follow that all the way to the cliff edge and run in place. It should work.

Are you seeing the green/blue overhead tranistion area that says Valley Floor?

Did u get any errors when installing the mod?

Do not go towrds the tomb but out towards the ciff

Alrighty. That Mandalorian told me to follow the trail of dead sith, and I did, but I can't seem to go anywhere after that. I come to the reddish tower-obelisk thing, but I can't go anywhere from there. Sorry for the vague-ness; I want to make sure I'm not spoiling anything xP

It's a beautiful mod, btw. The level of workmanship is astounding. 10/10

Sorry for the confusion...you are going the wrong way...you need to go back towards the caves, where Jolee was,....on your way there is a giant sith statue,...look up to see it....there are 2 dead sith assassins between the large statue and the cave entrance., walk between them...hope that helps...Thanks

Newbie, I'll tell you I was actually pretty impressed with your work here. You have great potential, and I could see it in this mod. But it has a few issues I really can't overlook.

My first issue is that it's difficult to help make the plot progress, as the journal entries don't help very much, and it's hard to interact with a lot of things in the environment, such as the man floating in the tank.

Another complaint I have is in regards to the voice acting. I really liked Darth Loqi. But I feel the other characters need some improvement, especially Jolee.

BUT
I see a lot of great stuff here. I liked the textures that you used, as well as your idea in general. My advice, DON'T STOP. Keep working on this mod. It really has the potential of being a 10/10. Keep it up, and you'll really make a name for yourself around here, I'm sure.

Played through the mod and it was awesome. Couple problems I experienced were when Kreia talked about the tomb close to the mod's entrance in the Valley of the Dark Lords, I saw some weird green texture pop up. I also got weird graphical glitches with the Malachor V steam vent things.
Other than that it was great.

@Revan91 - Thanks for the input. I hope you were able to finish it...."or tried to"...I knew Jolee's voice was going to be an issue when I started it so.

@DarthDaedric - the green texture is the top of an invisible placeable I put there to block the entrance to the valley floor until the quest for Vash was completed. So I am aware of that. The glitches in the steam room I assume are on the floors in the corners....I pieced that room together from its orignial 5 rooms into one room so that is where the textures overlap. Glad you enjoyed it.

keys are in the pot on the platform, a small rockpile near the jawa you talk to, and in an obelisk that is across from the platform on the other side of the area - directly across.

I have a problem when facing proxus ... cant seem to kill him no matter what i do and after some time the door behind opens and there Sion stays still.The problem is after the door opens i cant neither talk to sion nor talk/attack proxus. Any ideas ?

you can't kill him....sion is to interrupt the fight....has one of the frozen party members become active during your fight?

Just try a "hit and run" with poxus...so he stays interested in you but doesn't do a lot of damage to you......fight a delay tactic with him

have tsl rcm 1.7 hotr 1.4 invisable headgear that is all mods i got and about the fight i tryed not to attack poxus tried to go back straight back to the door the result is all the same ... and btw i cant seem to find the little boy who came with me ...

@ drunklol ...the litle boy may have gotten trappd somewhere...probably when you got off the elevator, he sometimes gets caught on the barrels

If you cango back to earlier save and pick up the boy...make sure he is wth your party....when you fight poxus stay close to his thrown area....I'm not quite sure why it is happening....

I am not sure the problem seems to be the cut scene where proxus/sion starts talking wont trigger .. About the boy i loaded a game and he is now with me bet the problem remains

O.k....check your override....the problem may be that the dialog name that is to trigger the cutscene is called "sion"...you may have another "sion" dialog in your override maybe from your tslcrm mod.....check your override, if you have a "sion" dialog in there, take it out temporarily and then try...let me know....also in your folder where u downloaded the mod there is a txt file called installlog...check that for any errors

I think you're right gazdalale, there is a dialog file for Hotor1.3 file that is called "sion" which is probably the culprit.

I played with both mods without problem till that sion scene. maybe both autors can fix that sion file together and make these two mods compatibile (I think that file is only issue) in future ?! it would be great, because hotor 1.4 doesn't make those malachor V problems like usm. I played whole game with these two and it was awsome!

So i tried your suggestion to remove sion.dlg and the cutscene triggered.It seemed fine but i coulndt complete the great escape quest and i didnt get any exp after completeing the enemy below quest,however i am not sure i have to get any.Anyway thnx for the help to finish this great mod and about the great escape quest i guess i will just use kotor tool to finish it

@ darvon - what other mods do you have installed? Also, in tne file you downloaded and used the installer there is a file called the installlog, check that were there any errors recorded

I have not heard of this problem yet.

Amazing mod! It works well, the graphics are amazing....it's awesome!

The only problem is a minor compatibility issue with the Tomb of Azgath N'dul. The entrance to the tomb vanishes if you use this mod.

I have gone into Uthars room.. .I have activated Bastilas Holocrons and Opened 2 footlockers... I fought Sion etc etc... I'm back outside... And I went to the Clifface, Tried to follow the Texture line.. But It wont do anything... The 'Valley Floor' Thing comes up... Only conclusion that I came to that doesnt involve a problem with the mod is that I missed something (If so, It's too late now. Academy is locked

@hessian1235....when you were in uthar's room do you go to the 'table' and find the datapad? You need to go behind the holocron towards the table, there is a placeable called 'table'...click it.

Also, in the download file there is a file called installlog., are there any errors in that log?

hey i dont know if this was the problem but when i first installed it the global.jrl so i took it out then reinstalled and everything but the global.jrl file was error i dont know if that helps

A great mod indeed although there are some points which the game lacks of conversation options, too linear.

Great re-skin on the ff: Onderon Palace, Telos Apartment Module, Peragus Chamber (where the darth jawa is located). The new location (Mines) looks good but need some lighting. It's nice to see some of the Jawas and the Selkath that trains to become a dark jedi. It gives me the creeps when I saw Kazius entering the medical station and then laugh. Overall i'd rate it 8/10.
There is a bug wherein you can't complete the Great Escape quest, after confronting the Kazius and letting Bindo escape with the prisoners and his new padawan.

Sure it has a few minor issues but easy to overlook. Sure, story could be expanded more - like with Bindo, but whatever. Ending is good, nice bad guy cliche laughing. loved it smile

Hello,
This is a great mod, played it without any problems just until I reached the Sanctuary entrance. Every time I try to get in there my Game crashes. Did anyone encounter the same probleme? Thanx in advance.

There was a guy over at Lucas Forums called Sleekguardians who had the same issue regarding the sanctuary....may want to check with him....see what mods he had installed.....I know he had TSLCRM and the kill ithorian...see if he was able to fix it

NM - sorry if this has been addressed.. known bug: if I install this mod, once Jolee is in my party.. can I continue to other worlds and finish the game? I wasn't sure if you meant that I couldn't enter the ship while doing the quests you added, or if it wasn't possible ever again. Thanks!!

I used Jolee to replace Kreia in the party gui...since you can't take her to Korriban anyway...If you leave Korriban, before the mod is complete, with Jolee in your party it may interfere with gamelplay areas that involve Kreia. Upon completetion of the mod and main quest the Jolee party issue resolves itself. Hope that helps.

i was having the same problem as the other guy when i couldnt get into the valley floor, so i used the warp cheat you provided. unfortunately, this created a glitch where, while normally jolee would be in your party at that point, i got kreia. is this issue unresolvable?

So, you went to Uthars room and found the datapad..and still weren't able to enter to valley floor behind the Ebon Hawk? What other mods to you have installed? To warp to the valley floor from Valley of the Lords..the cheat is warp 740KOR..that will get u started....hope that helps

duh. this mod is sure buggy as hell. i manage to get through those glitches to the fight with poxus, but when he finishes saying that he will ill me, i get attacked by sith apprentices who were training there. and they are invincible. their hp stay at minimum, but they won't die. if i try to speak with poxus, he just stares at me and does nothing. what shuld i do?

@sennek..the simplest thing to do would be to save your current Override to a new location, and create a new clean override in your KOTOR2 folder. Do a new download of the mod. You may get some errors because all the module folders, voice files are still there. You then should be able to proceed from a saved game that you have. Then when your done you can put your old saved Override back. You never know how these things are going to react with one another within the context of the game engine. They are not supposed to be there, so.

nope, nothing. i noticed, that only ones who were tarining and has no health won't die. the ones with full hp from the beginning can be killed.

hey i have some difficulties playing the mod. when i reach the part where i am told to check the security room to find a ship, i cant do anything with the computer or that holo-stuff. when i click on the computer it gives me that options but no matter what do i click on nothing happens, except of course "log out".
Please tell me what to do or if its a bug then what can cause it.
The game experience that this mod gives is kick-ass good tho

Use Darwine to run the EXE.
That's what I did with KoTOR 1 when I first played it on Mac. I was able to install almost every mod I wanted without too many issues.

The mod works with the other mods I have installed. The part where you meet that Proux's apprentince the walking to that Lord Proux guy takes a while and if yea click on any key botton or on the mouse just sometimes not continue on or just takes off of cenimetic mode for a few secs then the cenimetic mode goes on Lord Proux. The rest is good. I give yea a 8+ on most of the mods newbiemodder. Keep up on updating the current mod. Like making a cake focus on the cake and do the icing last.

@mablus25 - sorry to disappoint , but that is it for that mod, it took me little over 2 years to put that together. That dog has been put to bed. @dbd - so, you found the elvator, found the young boy....go to fight Darth Poxus..and then the game crashes...Did you defeat his students in the hall, then fight his lightsaber students? Or did you defeat all of them and then crash?

What other mods to you have installed...because sounds like some conflict

After "freeing" the slaves (I didn't find the 3 keys or anything), I got the boy and went off to fight Poxus. However, in the fight in the room full of proselytes and clerics, my game crashes after killing some of the unarmed blue enemies. Any clues here?

I'm running 1.0b, and my other installed mods are the Darth Dementous and Danika mods, a number of additional force power mods, an extra robe mod, a lightsaber graphics mod, and the mod that adds the jedi temple on Coruscant as a playable area.

I have 2 main questions
1.Do you have to make Jolee a Party Member and if so how do you leave Korriban when you have finished the mod
2.If you do get Jolee in your party and you try to go to the Ebon Hawk wil it crash your game or simply stop you going?

1. Once you complete the mod, Jolee will leave your party on his own..just go back the way you came..leave the academy, back thru the canyon to where you entered, it will take you back to the hawk.
2. Probably will, because he replaces Kreia in the party gui so sooner or later there will be a problem.

hey, did u manage to interact with the holocenter? once you open all the security doors, I think I found an elevator on the other end of the temple, but its terminal is inactive or unreachable, am I missing a step to activate it or something? frown

don't worry about the holocenter, nothing there, that was cut material...if you found the elevator you are on the right path...not sure why the elevator cmptr is not working, may be a mod conflict...if you have your cheats enabled, cheat code is... warp 747KOR,,,,,

alright, spawned a droid to warp to 747, did what I had to do there ... terminal issue seems to be related to Coruscant Jedi temple mod, I had a terminal unreachable there too before smile ... anyway, now I have the first *serious* bug, I'm crashing to desktop when trying to go to the Sanctuary from the Hangar bay ... dammit ... sorry, that's it, what could it be? a couple of people have had the same problem...it's a mod conflict but not sure with which one..some have kept trying to enter and eventually it works...here's the cheat to get to the next module...warp 746KOR...the problem may be with the trigger that sends u there so try the cheat

u know, even warping through a droid to 746 didn't work so seems to be an issue with the ****, are or ifo file in the module. I had no choice but to pack all the 746 module files into 747 and recruit JettDarklighter in there dude ... and it worked. Amazing big grin ... great job with the "human puppet" , nice job with that jedi 'mini-robe' haha ...

so I'm done with this, I had other bug when I couldn't unfreeze one of my party members when dueling with Poxus but seems to happen only if switching to a party member while fighting him, script is OK apparently.

a permanent add for my Korriban planet, now I can rate this let's say ... 9.5/10 just cause u've made me work u know ... wink

This mod isn't working one bit for me. I cannot get the item I need with the given game save because entering the room causes bastilla's holocron to become "broken" so the dlg doesnt fire. Also my character freezes after every combat round and then I have to re-load. It that wasn't bad enough, I get no entry point to the other part of the valley, and the game seems to not load properly after a save from your edited modules. I.E. white screen (no loading picture) and random crashes. Why is this happening? I am using TSLRCM 1.7 and followed all instructions...

I also attempted to edit the gamesave to get the item, but I still only get a green stripe where the waypoint is supposed to be, and the dlg or scripts will not fire. Also, I tried with my own game save using usm and still no luck, probably because usm is messing up the scripts. Can you release a version of this that will just let you go to the new module without a tagged item? (But yes, the previous post= without usm)

Bastilla's holocron has nothing to do with the mod..let it break....go behind the holocron and move towards the table on the wall..you'll see "table"--click it. Then work your way back to the Hawk.

As far as your problems...no clue really. What mods do you have installed?

This mod is amazing stuff! It works beautifully, right up to the moment I am supposed to enter the sanctuary. Then there is the loadscreen and then nothing. I have to end the program via taskmanager.
The other mods I have installed are: TSLRCM 1.7, Jedi Temple Coruscant, Workbench Crystal Attunement, Kreya's Assorted Robe Collection, Bao Dur's Charged Armor, Peragus Tweak, Additional Container on Harbinger, Mira-Hanharr Choice. Could it be that some of these conflict with this Korriban Expanson? It's such a pity, because up to this moment everything works perfectly - as if it really were part of the game!
Above, you recommend cheating by warping to 746KOR. The thing is I really don't know how this works. I never needed to cheat up to now and I have no idea how to do it.
Or is it perhaps possible to skip the sanctuary? Can the mod be finished without it?
It would be great if I could continue. Thank you for this great mod.

There seems to be no edit function; so, this additional post: I always check for compatibility when istalling mods. And I already had a full run-through with all the above mentioned mods. They definitely are compatible with each other.
I simply wanted to experience this fantastic mod with its added content although I was apprehensive as to its compatibility.
And I tried to skip the sanctuary, but that seems to be impossible as the door to Proxus is locked and all the acolytes and proselytes are unapproachable.

The only problem I encountered was Kreia not coming back. I know it said so in the install instructions I was just curious if you were going to correct it. 10/10 in my book though. I found everything needed to complete the mod

After Jolee leaves you at the end...Kreia's portrait should be restored to the party selection screen..she is not selectable though b/c she states that she cannot leave the Ebon Hawk..

Ok... NVM now i have another issue XD I found the data pad, balh blah blah, I found 2 keys, entered a tomb and lost Jolee and Atton and now I cant nget them back... And I went and talked to the Jawa claiming theres a ship and after the conversation nothing happens. Can I not go in the tomb?

I made a little extension to it, just a tiny one. adds about 10 mins more work, 5000 xp ect. Any way, is it o k to distribute the update since there is no sign of you making a proper one. It would be nice. BTW - it ran well. Piece of cake Hmmm Donut! or donut! smile

Hey newbie! I had question I hope you can help. I've gotten your mod to work just that one time. I had restored content 1.7 installed and hak pad and it worked but since then it won't. Any suggestions. I've recently wiped out my override folder and reinstalled everything except hak pad. and I'm still not sure it's working cause the new force powers icon shows up when I upgrade force powers but won't show up in battle

It may depend on the order you installed the mods....I would think you would want to install the tslrcm first. Then my mod with the attached tslrcm patch. I am unfamiliar with the hak pad so not sure about that but would guess it deals with the spells.2da file so that could be a problem. Did you install them in the same order as before?

I have a problem with the mod. Game CTD everytime when i'm trying to get Sanctuary. Sometimes game CTD during area loading and sometimes after i move at Sanctuary.

I have noticed that others have this CTD also but i haven't found solution anywhere.

This 2nd install that i have this problem. I really like to finish this mod.

Installed Mods: TSMRCM 1.7, Coruscant Jedi Temple, Dendis Mod, First National Bank of Coruscant, Workbench Crystal Attunement, HOTOR 1.6, Randon Sabers 6 Pack 2.0 and Lightsaber Replacement Hilts 4.1.

I thought of a good idea that you could do for Citadel Station, remember the Sealed Module Door? maybe you could make that openable if you have pass codes, what I thought would be a good idea is TSF Dormatories, and you could reskin it from the Peragus Dormatories, tell me here if you think you might do it.

So I've found Uthar's datapad, found the lost jedi, faced Sion, went through the cave suff, and now I'm trying to get to the valley floor by Naga Sadow's tomb. I can see the sign/banner saying I can go that way but it won't let me frown

Hey newbie I did get it figured out. I wasn't installing them in the correct order. I was curious if you'll ever expand on when the sith lord was limping into the medical bay and laughing about releasing someone in the kolto tank?

I am currently working on 2 additional play mods. The larger one is an Onderon expansion which brings back a redeemed Yuthura Ban. The second is a smaller mod which will hopefully bring the story of Darth Poxus and his kolto tank apprentice to a conclusion. Check out my wip thread at LucasForums if interested.

I kinda thought Dantooine got boring, so NEWBIEMODDER could you look through this and see if it is worthy of your attention.

At the Mercenary Camp near the Old Ruins you find a datapad saying "The Mighty Empire has been driven off Korriban, the Star Forge has been destroyed by Non-Rakata sentients, we Rakata sentients must plot our revenge underneath the waterfall here on Dantooine."

After the Battle of Khoonda, you walk by that waterfall bridge, eventually you find a mysterious holocron with dark energy, you open it up and it says "Underneath the waterfall is where your fate lies", you have the option of leaving it alone or jumping off of the waterfall into the Valley.

The Dantooine Valley should be reskinned from one of the Dxun Jungle modules, eventually you have to fight your way through Kinrath blah blah, then you find a cache, you open it up and a Rakata Warrior attacks you, you end up interrogating him and find out there is a secret Infinite Empire base there, seeking revenge after the destruction of the Star Forge, you end up finding another cache and when you open it up you go into another module.

After reading the majority of the comments, I can only assume this is a great addition to the many TSL mods out there.

The problem is, within a minute or so of entering the Valley Floor my game crashes. It has done this without miss several times. The other mods I have installed are: two different 90SK robe additions/retextures, Ebon Hawk Cargo Mod, the Mono K1 Gun Models/Upgrading DL-44 Blaster, Onderon Museum Upgrade, TSLRCM (of course), Khoonda Lost Room 1.4, 90SK's Super Content Mod, and this one.

So if anybody still reads these comments, care to lend a hand in figuring out what the problem is? I can only assume it's a mod compatibility issue, but there's a good chance I'm wrong since I'm not personally a modder.

im really looking forward to playing this mod!. heres the problem, i get to korriban, do the acadamy and find the data pad telling me about the vally. in my quests there is a blank box with nothing in it, when i installed it it said the changes have been applied but he mod may not work proporly, and there is no change in the vally near the tombs. am i missing something? or have i played it wrong? bare in mind that i installed the mod after i started a new game so scould that be something as well?

please help!

I can't get past the sanctuary door. my computer keeps on crashing even when I tried the warp 746Kor and that crashes as well.

I have the following mods: dantooine_restoration_mod, jedi_temple_expansion, this mod and enhanced_merchants.

Can anyone help me out, What I have noticed in the mod is excellent. Except for this part where I can't continue the game.

Hey Newbie, I am having some trouble with this mod and the game, I installed it and I went to Korriban and exited the Ebon Hawk and chose my party members, but then my screen will go completely black, nothing happens and after a few minutes my computer will freeze. I've uninstall it and installed again but the screen still goes black freezes's, the only other mod I have just gives me Darth Nihilus robes. Do you have any solutions to fix this problem? I have not been to Korriban yet either.

I can't seem to find this Belloq character. There is one section of the modded valley floor map i can't visit without the game crashing. It's up by where you can hear what sounds like a lightsaber duel, over where the crashed ship would be on malachor. When I get close, the game crashes, so i don't know who is around that corner. I'm hoping that isn't where Belloq is?
