Description:
Ellimar returns to us here at KotOR Files with a very ambitious recruitment modification for the first Knights of the Old Republic game. Those familiar with recruitment modifications will know that to add a NPC, a NPC has to be replaced, in this case the modder has decided to replace Juhani. In place of Juhani you get Elimar, who like our feline friend is a Jedi Guardian, later you also come across Elimars fallen apprentice and have the option to recruit them too, in place of HK-47.
The new non-player characters come with their own custom portraits, dialogue and even optional voice overs, my only slight criticisms is the modder has not yet learned how to use the lipsync modification tools, so it may look a little funny when the charachter is talking, also as of yet there are no journal entries which come the quests associated with the new party members; though compared to many recruit modifications these are but small complaints.
There are some very important instructions in the readme you will need to follow to avoid causing bugs within the game, such as you will need to kill Juhani on Dantooine, otherwise you will have problems when Ellimar joins your party. There are other instructions to be followed there too, so I can only re-iterate when installing and then playing the mod to read the instructions the modder has made.
All in all this is an ambitious and competently put together modification, and should you be bored with the usual members of your party this recurit mod could well be the one for you!

A Mod by Ellimar18 (aka Ellimar) for KotOR

I would just like to let everyone know that this is my first recruitment mod ever, and the first mod that I have really had to do multiple scripts. Hope you enjoy it!
Possible Spoiler Warning Below!
The Mod: This mod replaces Juhani with Ellimar. Ellimar is a Jedi Guardian, who can be recruited on Dantooine as you are leaving to deal with Juhani (be warned, you need to kill Juhani!).
The Mod also allows you to recruit Ellimar's fallen apprentice, Malthus (I know, it's really close to Malgus form TOR) on Korriban. Malthus will replace HK-47, if you choose to recruit him.
Features: Two new party members, with a mini-quest (sorry, no journal entries), and an optional bearded version of the "PMHC04" head for Ellimar. Both Ellimar and Malthus come with custom portraits and dialogue. Also included are some optional voiceovers (Yay!).
Instillation: Place all of the files (accept for the Voice Overs folder) into your Override folder (the default path is C/Program Files/LucasArts/SwKotOR/Override).
Voice Over Instillation: If you want the voice overs for the dialogue, here is what you need to do: Open up the "Voice Overs" folder in the main mod folder. Inside,
you will se three more folders entitled "elli01", "elli02", "elli03", and "malt01". Go to your SwKotOR folder. Inside, you will find a folder called "streamwaves". Inside, you will find (take a guess!) more folders. Now do the following:
Put "elli01" into the "m14aa" folder.
Put "elli02" into the "globe" folder.
Put "elli03" into the "m33aa" folder.
Put "malt01" into the "globe" folder.
And you are done!
Bugs: There are only a few bugs that I know of:
1. If you do not recruit eighther Ellimar or Malthus, HK-47 and Juhani will have the new portraits and party selection screen pictures. If you want to get rid of this, delete the following files:
For Juhani: "po_pjuhani" and "po_pjuhani3". For HK-47 "po_hk473" and "po_phk47". Note that this will get rid of the custom portraits, giving Ellimar and Malthus Juhani and HK-47's portraits (respectivly).
2. Because of my limited modding skills, I was unable to limit the number of times that you can spawn Malthus through Ellimar's dialogue on Korriban. Just don't do it more then once and you'll be good!
3. Ellimar and Malthus sometimes speak Juhani's and HK-47's lines during dialogue with NPC's. I will try to fix this up in a version 2 or something.
4. Make sure that you only ask Ellimar about his apprentice in the Dreshdae part of Korriban. I am pretty sure something will glitch up if Malthus is spawned outside of that area... Once again, limited modding skills!
Please note that I have not yet added Lypsyncing for Ellimar's Dialogue yet. Again, that'll go into a version 2 if I make one. Also, don't put the "PMHC04" file into your override if you DO NOT want the bearded version of the head.
Other then that, everything runs fine! Nothing game stopping here that I know of. Email me if you find any other bugs!
Uninstallation: Remove all of the files that you put into your override folder, and then the streamwaves folders if you went with the Voice Overs.

If you wanted to seamlessly remove Juhani without having to kill her, it's just a matter of setting a boolean using a script.
Add this line to your recruit script:

SetGlobalBoolean("DAN_JUHANI_JOINED", FALSE);
}
Juhani should then return to the Enclave courtyard. |
