Ryyk Blade - File Description

Description:
Ever felt that Zaalbar and his evil brother, Chuundar needed their own types of weapons that look more like they’re from the Wookiee culture? Well, Inyri Forge felt that they should, so she decided to do something about it by making new melee weapons for both of the Wookiees.

These new melee models look totally awesome (see screenshots if you don’t believe me wink). They have a nice thick blade with a nice point at the end of them. They really look threatening from my point of view. And to make sure they’re really fun to use, anybody can use them, not just the Wookiees. That should help entice people to want to download this mod. wink

Zaalbar’s new Ryyk blade is found in the locker near where you can find Zaalbar’s Bowcaster, which is near where you rescue Zaalbar in the Taris Sewers. Chuudar’s blade is in his possession and he doesn’t plan on giving it up, so use your imagination on how to get his blade. wink

If you don’t want to wait to get them, or you want duplicates of the weapons since the mod is set to give one of each, just type...

giveitem g_w_cryyk (for Chuundar’s Ryyk Blade)
giveitem g_w_zryyk (for Zaalbar’s Ryyk Blade)

These new Ryyk blades do give some bonuses when fully upgraded.

Zaalbar’s Ryyk Blade
1-4 Slashing Damage Bonus
1-8 Universal Damage Bonus
+5 to Strength
On Hit Properties of 22 for Paralyze
1-6 Massive Criticals Damage
Keen Base 1

Chuundar’s Ryyk Blade
1-8 Slashing Damage Bonus
1-8 Universal Damage Bonus
+5 to Strength
5 Attack Bonus
1-6 Massive Criticals Damage

This mod uses the TSL Patcher and you need to read the info.rtf to install this mod properly. Enjoy the new Ryyk blades everbody. big grin

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
--------------------------
The TSL patcher has been used. You must, however, have baseitems.2da in your override folder for this patcher to work.

**IMPORTANT** A clean (unmodified) version of baseitems.2da has been included in the zip. ONLY put it in your override folder if you are not using a mod that already modifies it. Otherwise just ignore it and run the installer.

Extract the contents of the ZIP file and run Ryyk_Installer.exe and the follow the instructions provided.

DESCRIPTION
------------
Wookiee culture relies very much on traditional values. The construction of the ryyk blade is one of those traditions. The blade is made by hand by each Wookiee warrior as a symbol of themselves. This mod makes two of these blades available in the game: one for Zaalbar, which can be found in the chest with his bowcaster in the Taris undercity sewers, and Chuundar's, which you can loot from his corpse if you kill him.

Let's consider this more of a "trouble-shooting" area. I'm not incredibly familiar with the patcher (sorry) so I realize there may be a few problems with the UTI files that I don't know how to get the patcher to fix, regarding the 2DA file. I gather it may be easier to explain how to fix the UTI files than how to do the 2DA by hand.

If you're modifying the baseitems.2da of another mod and the UTI files "mess up", do the following:
1) Make sure you have KotOR Tool (<3 Fred Tetra). You can find a link to it at KotORFiles' affiliat site, StarWarsKnights.com.
2) Open g_w_cryyk.uti and g_w_zryyk.uti.
3) In the baseitem field there should be a drop down menu. Choose the very last option (it should say "Long Sword"). Make sure you pick the last instance of Long Sword.
4) Save and enjoy.

Good choice. Inyri's mod is better. We actually talked about making the mods compatible, but I told her not to worry about it since the highlight of my Zaalbar's Item's mod was the Wookiee Warblade. If you use this mod, that kind of defeats the purpose of my mod.

Although I'm quite puzzled though, why the hassle of affecting the baseitems.2da if the base stats of the ryyk blade are exactly the same as the long sword?

It has to do with the fact that a new melee model is being used and for the game to recognize it, the baseitems.2da has to be edited. I asked Inyri the same question while I was reviewing this mod.

Hmm, actually that's not the case Shem.

Inryi could just name the models w_lngswrd_xx.mdl/x and they'd show up ingame with their intended appearance but be classified as longswords.

In fact, that's exactly what she did with her earlier katana model.

I guess she was trying to experiment with the (rather tricky) patcher?

Actually with my katana model I believe I overwrited a longsword type. From my experience you can not simply add a third longsword variant and have it work ingame, despite logic telling you you should be able to. I could of course be wrong on that, though... Chainz would know, I'm sure wink.

For some Reason there are 2 baseitems.2da in the zip file and I don't know which one is which. Also it shows in the base item drop down menu of either of the swords is red and yet I followed the instructions. Please Help
