|Telos Shuttle Crash Movie Fix (1.0b) - File Description
Description:
One of the unique features I talked about the other day when reviewing the new movies for M4-78 was the cut scene videos that you can see in both Knights of the Old Republic games. Now letís talk about the cut scenes when you take the transport from Citadel Station to the Restoration Zone in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. There is a series of movies you see, meaning theyíre not all one movie when youíre making the transition.
Now, for most people they donít have their swkotor2.ini file set where the movies play at the same resolution as their game. Itís how Obsidian set up the game just like BioWare did for Knights of the Old Republic. The problem with the movie set up during that transition I talked about in the first paragraph is how your monitor is refreshing constantly when playing each movie. Well, I had that happen with the two different monitors Iíve played both Knights of the Old Republic games on. I later figured out how to mess with the swkotor2.ini file and stop that from happening when setting the cut scene movies to the same resolution as my game setting. That was many, many years ago. I've also noticed that I'm the only one who figured that out when talking to others about it over the years.
Anyway, Zbyl2 & DarthParametric worked together to put those series of cut scene movies as one movie. They call it a ďfixĒ, but I look at it more as a convenience than anything. Well, some of you will probably agree with the authors in calling it a fix. However you would like to call it, itís here for your convenience.
The authors used the TSL Patcher to have this mod installed. If youíre one of those people who do not like using the Patcher (many out there feel that way), you can manually install the files if you want without causing a problem. Just make sure to put the movie file in the movies folder and the script file in the override folder. Enjoy!
Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.

TELOS SHUTTLE CRASH MOVIE FIX
zbyl2 & DarthParametric
This is a simple mod for KOTOR 2 that replaces the sequence of movies on Telos depicting
the shuttle crash that occurs as you transition from the orbital station to the planet's
surface. For some reason, Obsidian didn't produce this sequence as a single movie. While
that was fine on the Xbox version, when playing at higher resolutions on the PC the game
engine forcibly changes the screen resolution every time a movie is played (even when
using the HQ Movies patch). This makes the shuttle crash sequence extremely jarring, as
the game resizes the screen between each of the 4 movies.
WHAT IT DOES:
It adds a new Bink movie and a script that tells the game to load it in place of the
original sequence of 4 separate movies. Nothing is overwritten.
Simply extract the archive and run TSLPatcher.exe. To uninstall, delete a_201shuttle.ncs
from the Override folder. The original crash movies are left untouched. If you install
or uninstall the mod and wish to use an existing save in Dock Module 126 then you should
transition to another area (Entertainment Module, etc.) and then back again before boarding
the shuttle. This forces the game to reload the script that tells it which movie/s to play.
The replacement movie was made by merging the original 4 files together unedited. The short
"fade to black" at the end of each movie was thus retained, resulting in a slight break
between each individual scene. However, because the sequence is now a single file, you
won't experience the much more jarring delay caused by the game resizing the screen between
each individual movie.
This mod should be compatible with any other mod, as long as they don't use a_201shuttle.ncs

No reason to not download, 10/10. Also, what would anyone have against TSL Patcher?

Quote:Actually I've always done that myself and I still get the game resizing when playing movies. Not sure if it's an issue with a disparity between desktop res and game res or something else. Never been able to resolve it anyway. Hence this "fix" to minimise some of the aggravation (it drives me up the freaking wall lol).
I later figured out how to mess with the swkotor2.ini file and stop that from happening when setting the cut scene movies to the same resolution as my game setting.
Quote:The funny thing is the initial version was going to be completely manual. I ended up changing it to TSLPatcher because I thought that would make it easier for people lol. Oh well, can't win `em all I guess.

I just saw that someone figured out how to make the movies play at the same resolution as the game by tinkering with the .ini file. What do I need to change in that file to make the movies play at normal resolution? (this also applies for KOTOR)

For TSL, open swkotor2.ini and look for the Display Options and Graphics options. The Graphic Options will be whatever you set the resolution at in the config tool or the in-game menu, but the Display Options (which controls the movie res) will default to 640x480. Manually change it to the same as the screen resolution you set in the game's options. For example -
Disable Intro Movies=0
As I said in my previous post though, I've always done that and it still resizes the screen when playing movies.....

Simple yet very welcome mod. I always wondered why 1 cutscene was broken into 4 2 seconds long fragments.
